Fred McKerchar

 
Fred McKerchar is a qualified printer. Mr McKerchar joined the Scottish Prison Service at Perth Prison in 1975. He has many years of first hand experience of working in a criminal justice setting including roles such as Senior Officer at Castle Huntly Open Prison, Staff Training Officer at Perth and Cornton Vale Prisons, Life Liaison Officer, Governor and Unit Manager responsibilities at Barlinnie and Cornton Vale Prisons and Deputy Governor at H. M. Prison Noranside which included responsibility for transfers, home leave and community placement approvals. In 1996 Mr McKerchar was appointed as a member of H. M. Chief Inspector of Prisons team. Mr McKerchar retired as the Life Liaison Officer and Manager of Friarton Hall and the Long Term prisoner halls in Perth Prison. In October 2006 he was appointed as a lay member to the Parole Board for Scotland.
