Mr McVey has spent the last 28 years working in Social Work Services in Scotland. He worked as Head of the Social Work Unit in Greenock Sheriff Court from 1989 to 1996, during which time he was a member of the Inverclyde Council Victim Support Management Team. Mr McVey then spent a number of years in the Registration and Inspection of Care Services, first in a management role within the Local Authority and then with the Care Commission. He has been in his current senior management role as Operations Director with the British Red Cross since 2002 where he is responsible for a range of residential and community services for adults. He was appointed to the Parole Board in August 2010.
